Nicole Normandin currently serves as the Executive Director of Charitable Investments for ‘1789 Cares’, the charitable arm of 1789 Minerals and is the Executive Director for Stuff the Sleigh, a nonprofit organization that supports the psychosocial and emotional needs of pediatric cancer and hematology patients and families. 1789 views our charitable donations as social investments, where we have significant expectations for generating high philanthropic returns, locally and globally.
Over the last ten years, Nicole has worked with vulnerable populations in several capacities – most recently as a Clinical Social Worker at Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers and as a Community Outreach Specialist with the American Cancer Society. Nicole has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology and a Master’s of Science in Social Work, both from the University of Texas at Austin. In May 2017, she completed the Leadership Institute for Nonprofit Executives certification program through Rice University. She has extensive work volunteering and serving others, including time as the President of Student Hope, a pilot program through the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
What she loves most about her role in Stuff the Sleigh is the ability to give each patient, sibling and parent a little something to make them smile despite the devasting circumstances around them. When Nicole’s father lost his 7-year battle to pancreatic cancer, her personal and professional passion for positively impacting the lives of cancer patients was reinforced, allowing her to lead the efforts made by Stuff the Sleigh.
Charitable Giving: ‘1789 Cares’
1789 Minerals’ focus is to build a legacy – to accumulate world-class royalties and minerals, built upon a firm foundation of predictable and stable cash flow and low-cost upside. It is our singular focus to create a consistent and long-term royalty and mineral company that is the industry standard bearer. In that, we shall create economic legacy. It is our desire to then use that commerce to create long-lasting, fundamental legacy in the lives of children suffering in the communities we serve and around the world through our charitable giving arm of ‘1789 Cares’.
A portion of all of the profits at the General Partner level, and at the discretion of our Limited Partners, goes back to our (4) primary missions to help alleviate the suffering of innocent children, as well as to help establish long-term, sustainable economic development and cures for these same children that are suffering:
